Context that Changed Design - Entry #12

Modern designs inspired by De Stijl .....

Between 1917 and 1931, De Stijl designers had no idea about computers, internet and websites because such technology was not in existence yet.   Nowadays no one can live without computers and internet - that includes the designers and architects, who cannot work without modern technology, unlike the De Stijl designers/architects who used to produce and present their creations differently.  However, modern website designs and logos reflect certain De Stijl designs.  If we have a look at the Microsoft grid that we are all familiar with, and the grids produced by De Stijl designer Pier Mondrian, a similarity can be noticed.  So, in a way we can conclude that Mondrian was one of the first "Windows" designers!!  De Stijl principles are still practised by modern designers, including simplicity and the grids that I have already mentioned.
